Programs We Offer

Programs We Offer:

The Challenger Center at Wheeling Jesuit University offers a variety of programs to school, students, and the general public.  We “fly” three different mission scenarios that allow students to become astronauts and scientists for a day.  The mission scenarios vary from year to year.

  • Rendezvous with a Comet –Be the first scientist and engineers to take a close-up look at a comet as its streaks its way across the sky!
  • Voyage to Mars –Join a crew of scientists living on the surface of Mars to help them construct and launch a probe to one of the two moons of Mars.  Should we choose Phobos or Deimos??  YOU decide!
  • Return to the Moon –You are invited to join a daring crew of mission specialists and astronauts to become the first to “Return to the Moon” to establish a lunar base.

School

Public, parochial, private, and home school groups may participate in our school programs. Schools are offered a two or four hour program.

All teachers participating in an on-site mission are encouraged and welcome to attend one of five teacher training sessions scheduled throughout the school year.

Public Programs

We offer a variety of ways for groups and individual students to enjoy the fun and excitement of the Challenger Learning Center.  Whether you are a Boy Scout, Girl Scout, or looking for something to do on your summer vacation we have the program for YOU!!!

Summer camp is a one day camp that is offered annually in the months of June and August. Students entering grades 4th – 7th will enjoy a fun-filled day of hands-on activities and an exciting two hour space travel mission.
